Meet The Team

Stuart Amos Sensei

Stuart Amos Sensei started Karate in 2000, training with Linden Huckle Sensei. Falling in love with the martial art, he never looked back. After 11 years of training, Stuart Sensei made the step of moving to Liverpool to continue his training.

Stuart Sensei was selected onto the England Squad in 2012 and has competed as part of the team ever since, achieving enormous success both nationally and internationally. One of his proudest moments was when he, alongside his team mates, won the Team Kata event in Portugal in 2013, just the first of many placements in international competition.

Stuart Sensei achieved his 5th Dan in 2023. Having taught at the University of Liverpool Karate Club since 2011, Stuart Sensei is an experienced and knowledgeable instructor and is often invited to teach on courses across the UK. He is as passionate about his Karate now as he ever was and takes enormous pride in seeing his students achieve their full potential, both in Karate and their day-to-day lives.

In 2020, Stuart Sensei joined the HDKI and is excited and proud to take Randori Shotokan Karate Club forward within the organisation.

Dave Goodall Sensei

Dave Goodall Sensei started his training in the early ’70s at Birkenhead YMCA and was a formidable opponent in both kata and kumite.

Like many, family commitments became the priority, and he had to hang up his gi.

Moving forward to more recent years, he decided to join Randori SKC alongside a number of family members, including grandson Jamie who progressed all the way to Shodan with the club.

After a handful of years back, under Stuart Amos Sensei’s watchful eye, he passed his examination for Sandan in 2022.

Throughout it all, she competed at National and International level, taking home many trophies for both kumite and kata.

Having left martial arts to focus on family, she began Iaido in 2021, a Japanese martial art focusing on katana based attack and defence, and earned her 1st dan in 2024 while taking on an assistant instructor role at the dojo.

Kelly joined Randori SKC in 2022 with her daughter, and has competed in multiple competitions, earning silver for sparring at her first event. She is working had towards her first dan, fuelled by a passion for karate and martial arts in general

Ren Bromiley

From practising Tae Kwon Do and Jiu Jitsu in Primary School, to watching copious amounts of Dragonball Z and playing Street Fighter as a teen, Ren has always had an interest in martial arts. However, it was at the age of 26 this interest was truly placed front and centre.

Taking part in various other sports over the years, including weightlifting, competitive indoor climbing, and swimming, Ren found the focus of his love for martial arts at Randori SKC. Training in Shotokan has provided great health benefits for him, from reducing pain from long-term sport injuries, to improving flexibility, and massively improving his confidence.

Now training towards his 1st kyu with an eye towards Shodan (Black Belt), Ren has achieved success at a competitive level, including gold and silver medals in both Kata and Kumite. Karate really has solidified itself as a major passion.

Ren has ADHD and has a lot of experience working with Neurodivergent children and adults, and he is also a colossal and unrepentant nerd (not just about karate).

Currently completing his GCSEs, he has aspirations of a career in the fire service in the future.

Paul has some limited martial art experience as a youth, but mainly focussed on other sports, primarily rock climbing, athletics, and badminton. He was a leader in Scouting from 2005-2007, and 2021-2023.

He finally followed the rest of the family and joined Randori SKC early in 2024 as as student, quickly becoming involved in multiple aspects of the club. He won gold at the HDKI National Championships for kumite in his age and grade bracket.

Outside of Karate, Paul is a Liverpool fan, enjoys watching anime, or getting lost in a good book. He is also very partial to a good coffee.

Paul will be mainly involved in administration with the club, and putting his experience in aspects such as safeguarding and website administration to good use. He will also be the first person in the club to complain about the weather as soon as it gets slightly warm.
