We Are Expanding!

On January 6th, along with our Greasby classes, we are opening a new Dojo at Clare Mount Specialist Sports College in Leasowe.

We are so, so excited for this fantastic development.
 
With 2 new classes starting every week, we are able to provide even more opportunities for students both old and new to develop on their Karate Journey.
 
As such, we now have a new name. Randori has a number of meanings, some of which are very near and dear to my heart. A name long talked about between myself and Damion Wood Sensei, Randori is often translated as Fighting or Free Sparring. But, there is more to it than that.
 
It can also be translated as Laundry. During the covid pandemic, a laundry unit was a haven for Karateka across Merseyside, giving us somewhere safe and legal we could train.
 
Not only that, Randori can be translated as Grasping Freedom, something which I feel both myself and Randori SKC have firmly done over the last few years.
 
Here’s to the next step on our Karate Journey!

Congratulations to all of our students who took Kyu gradings this weekend. 

Over 35 students graded over a three hour period, and as you can see there were a lot of happy faces throughout!

HDKI Christmas Course and Dan Grading 2024

Taking place at the Portway Lifestyle Centre in Oldbury, members of Greasby SKC has a brilliant Saturday with awesome classes from Scott Langley Sensei, John Holdsworth Sensei, Julie Nicholson Sensei, and Tom Kompier Sensei.

The afternoon culminated in Dan gradings, the highlight being our own student, Pippa, who successfully passed her Shodan under Julie Nicholson Sensei. 

All of us at Greasby SKC are extremely proud, and congratulate her on her amazing achievement!

Inspire Kenya 2024 – Post Trip

Following his week spent in Kenya as part of the Inspire Africa 24, Stuart Sensei has returned back to the UK.

His time there included nine training sessions over five days, working with both children and adults, with highlights including a dawn ‘early bird’ class and training the Kenyan National Team.

Speaking with Stuart Sensei on his return, he has similarly described his time there as ‘inspiring’, ‘fun’, and ‘humbling’, and he is very much looking forward to the opportunity to return.

It is with great pride we wish Stuart Amos Sensei good luck with his travels this week, joining HDKI Kenya for five days of workshops between Tuesday 5th November and Sunday 10th November.

Wirral Sport Awards 2024

It was huge honour to be nominated and short listed for the Wirral Coach of the Year at the Wirral Sports Awards last night. 

Fantastic to share the stage with Olympians, Paralympians, and other brilliant athletes, including my own student, Jamie, who was nominated for the Young Sports Person of the Year Award. 

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners. Thank you to everyone who nominated me and to the guys from Greasby Shotokan Karate Club who came to support us!
